Egg hunt, Friends and Cupcakes

As much as I want my kids to know the real meaning of Easter, I also want them to have fun with Easter Egg hunts and the Easter Bunny. So, we went to the annual Easter Egg hunt at our church this morning. Last year, Camden and Claire didn't get hardly any eggs due to a huge number of people, which was a little ovewhelming to them. They were shy and ended up with just a few. This year was a completely different story. The crowds were fewer than last year and we had a game plan. Run straight to the back and then start gathering eggs. It worked!!! They had a basket full of eggs...and they were beyond thrilled!!! After the big kids hunted, it was time for the babies. Carlyle was so cute, although she wasn't really sure what to do. She picked up an egg and then just held it. She finally put it in her basket and would gather a few more. She was so sweet and even shared with her friend, Callen. After the hunt, I looked up and recognized a friend. Her daughter and Carlyle are only about a week apart in age. We've been meaning to get them together to meet and just haven't found the time. What a coincidence that we saw them today and Carlyle and Madelyn were able to meet. Madelyn is such a cutie! Hopefully, we can find the time to have a playdate very soon!! We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was overcast and breezy, which made for a perfect hunting day!!!

After the hunt we headed to Nana's house where the girls decorated cupcakes with icing and sprinkles. They had the best time. After watching both girls lick their knives in between icing the cupcakes, I realized that I would not be tasting their creations. Although Carlyle didn't really get into the "decorating" part, she enjoyed the tasting part. She was licking her lips over and over!! Nana sent the cupcakes home with us and Camden came up with a brilliant idea. She thought it would be so nice of us to leave a couple of cupcakes for the Easter Bunny tonight. She was so excited about it that I just had to play along. She even decided that the Easter Bunny would enjoy a Capri Sun, too. Claire wasn't sure that he would know how to put the straw in, but I assured her that he could figure it out. We sure hope the Easter Bunny is extra nice to the girls for their thoughtfulness!!
